I still have a job

Well...Friday we all got called into a room - one by one - and were told if we still had a job and what it was going to be. I do still have a job, but I am changing positions. I will now be in Retail Commissions. New comp system, new boss, oh...and it's temporary! We will find out in October if our job will become permanant and if not I will still get a severance package. Interesting.....I am not really sure what to think.

Now that I have calmed down a bit.....

Let's talk about things that are really important.....like drinking! ok...not really. I don't really drink that much but I do like talking about it. I like saying things like, "man, after that I really need a drink" and "I'll drink to that". Actually there are a couple of drinks that I really like:

Pinot Noir - most red wine is okay with me but PN is my favorite!
Dirty Martinis - These have come up twice in two days - one Grey Goose, one Belvadere. GG is probably my fav, but I have never been one to turn down good vodka.

Anyway....I don't know why I am writing about drinking other than the fact that I haven't had one for awhile.......and I want one.

Hmmmmm - dirty martini and laundry tonight.....just give me a smoke and a string of pearls and I could be a 50's housewife!

so....explain it to me again please

For the 2nd year in a row we are not getting a raise at my job and this year they have also suspended the 401K matching and tuition reiumbursement. I guess I should be happy having a job.....at least that is what I keep hearing, but really gets my goat is the fact that month after month I sit here and pay sales people for this same company anywhere between $3000-$40000. Yep...that is PER MONTH and in addition to their base salary which is already larger than mine....most around $60-70K a year.....some more! OH....and they BITCH all the time and I even have one of my reps suing the company because he thinks he deserves MORE money....this is a man that I have paid $40000 a MONTH for the last 4 months.....and not much less than that the previous 8. Let's figure that up.....he's one that makes a base salary of about $90K. So....in 2008 this man has made $90K + $160K +$50K = $300,000. (min. it could be more) For talking to some people and then they bought some phones and someone else put in the order, someone else filled the order, someone else talks to the customer when there are issues, someone else bills the customer, someone else accepts the money and someone else....oh, you get the picture.

So....explain to me again please how this is okay?

Where will I be in 5 years?

"You have one thing in common with all successful people - 24 HOURS A DAY. It’s how you use them that makes all the difference." - Unknown

A friend of mine posted that on Twitter today and I really like it!!!

Last night I attended the year end celebration for my Tastefully Simple Team. It was fun....and eye opening. When I sat down and set my goals for 2009, I set them based on what I knew I could do. At the meeting last night, I figured out that without knowing it (ok...maybe subconsiously I did) I set my goals right along side all the leaders in the group. Our team is growing so fast and I don't want to miss out....I want to be a part of it all!!

I ended up being #9 sales person for the year and tied for #8 recruiter of the year.....and I started in late Feburary! Think of what I can do this year!!!

7.5 more work days until I get on a plane to Miami.....it's 79 degrees down there today.....it's 40 here. Then it's on The Rock Boat IX - The Niner....wow....it's hard to believe it's been that long ago! yikes!

So....as I sit here freezing becuase I refused to wear my boots for the third day in a row, and thinking about where I will be in two weeks (Fun Day at Sea!), and thinking about my goals for Tastefully Simple, I ask myself......how long will I have this full time crappy cubicle job anymore. I am setting a 5 year goal for myself!

It's a new year.....

All I hear about on the news is how horrible a year 2008 was. Sure...there were some pretty bad things that happened....some that even effected me but for the most part 2008 was a pretty good year for me and here is why I think that:

*I started a new business which is doing really well
*I stopped smoking (again - but this time I am going to beat my previous record of 6 years)
*I stopped getting drunk - what's the point really....it makes you make bad decisions.
*I put over $2K in my savings - it helps when you don't have credit card debt....oh...and stop smoking and getting drunk and have a lucritive business!!
*I moved from crack ho town to suburbia johnson county and I don't hate it!
*I purged some ugliness from my life - things and people!
*I spent more time with my family - we even did a girls shopping weekend to Minnesota!
* We elected a Kick-ASS new president!

I am not saying that there wasn't some sorrow in 2008:
*A couple of my favorite bands broke up....although one did get back together but....
*The lead singer and my good friend Abigail was diagnosed with Stage 3 inflammitory Breast Cancer. She's a fighter though....I think good things are in store in 2009
*Because of my move to JOCO, I have lost touch with some of my "friends". I use the "" because my Best Friend and I haven't lived in the same town for 20 years.....and we still find a way to keep our friendship. I guess things like this show you who your true friends are. "call me!"

So....as I move into 2009 I can look back and say that there was some goodness in 2008. I am so looking forwad to this new year....I think some wonderful things are going to happen - and I am going to work hard to make sure they do!

It's Christmas!! Okay....technically, the day was yesterday, but we are having out family get together tomorrow. It's the first time in a long time that our Christmas celebration is actually in December....and close to Dec 25th! I am so excited to see the babies....and everyone of course.

In 22 days I will board a plane (first time flying Southwest!) to Ft. Lauderdale to get on The Rock Boat (sailing out of Miami) TRBIX - wow.....how time flies.

cheesecake and chocolate.....

I wish I didn't like sweets....I really do!!! In the past two days I have practically devoured a whole bag of Hershey's Chocolate Cheesecake Kisses.

I am really glad they are limited edition....and gone. This was just a left over bag at WalMart...

They are so yummy......I need to stop!
